A Girl In The World is creating a series of children's books.

Created to encourage children and adults to share thoughts and feelings, to nourish philosophical and spiritual communication and to enrich emotional connection.

Each book will be Australian made with environmental considerations and certification, so that it may sit in the hands of children and adults not having cost the earth. Raising awareness for sustainable printing and eco friendly trade and practices will empower children and parents to be part of the solution.

We aim to raise awareness for Orphfund, a wonderful life saving and life changing organisation that champions children's wellbeing and welfare throughout the world.

A Girl In The World books and stories are created to delight.

A Girl In The World books and stories are as much about creating that time and place where thoughts and feelings can be shared as it is about the books and stories themselves. In a hurried world and busy lives, this precious time can all to often be lost to so many other responsibilities.

Providing opportunities that encourage and allow children to connect to, understand and express themselves is vital to their mental, emotional and spiritual health and growth. This helps to foster in them the understanding and importance of their place in the world and validates that their thoughts and feeling matter.

Helping build confidence and resilience in children and develop a healthy sense of themselves is of the greatest importance. It also clears a path for them to develop a strong belief in themselves and their ability to make positive choices. One of the greatest gifts we can offer our children is the knowledge that they have choices, that they can choose to respond or react.

It helps children to understand that they have the power to affect change through the choices they make and to take responsibility for creating and sharing ideas, thoughts and feelings, even if difficult and challenging, in a safe and positive manner.

The Way The Books Are Made-is as important as the why.

By creating children’s books that are eco friendly and sustainable with transparency and information as to the printing and production of these books it also opens up the world of possibility to explore and converse with children about the environment and our need to protect it.

Opening up those conversations with children and sharing the vast number of ways we can do that will help them feel pro-active and equip them to make decisions and choices regarding the future of our planet and its resources.

A Girl In The World books are eco friendly and certified, printed and produced with environmental considerations and certification.

A Girl In The World is helping raise awareness for ORPHFUND and the inspiring life saving work they do with orphaned children.

Orphfund is a volunteer based organisation helping abandoned,

orphaned and vulnerable children around the world, regardless of race or religion.

They run grass root, self-sustaining, community projects, that provide shelter, nutrition, health care, support, education and training, ensuring all children have a happy and bright future.

Orphfund are purely volunteer based and they are proud to ensure that 100% of any donation will reach children living in poverty.

About Melanie Lee and A Girl In The World

I am an artist, illustrator and writer who loves the art of self expression. Finding, losing and finding myself through creativity is an endless source of inspiration. Creative expression helps me to process my world and the world around me. I am passionate about sharing that experience and encouraging and inspiring others to discover and uncover their own creative expression and voice.

In 2012 I wrote, illustrated and self published A Girl In The World, a children's book not only for children but for the child within us all. A beautiful book with a meaningful and universal story about the ups and downs of life and the power of holding onto one's self.

I have completed the next books - A Girl In The World Follows Her Dreams and A Boy In The World both due for release soon.

In 2011/2012 I attended the School of Social Entrepreneurs and recently graduated from the Centre for Sustainable Leadership. Both learning experiences provided invaluable insight and teachings that enabled me to flourish.

I look forward to continuing to share my journey.

Creative Workshops Available

Workshops are available for both children and adults.

Melanie will come to you and create an environment which allows for the unique and individual expression of each person and their creativity and imagination.

The Creative Kind workshops run for hour and a half and provide a safe and nurturing environment to explore and connect with creative expression.

Workshops focus on encouraging participants to discover and enjoy the playground within...and to provide creative tools for self discovery.

Taking Care of Our Environment

Our forests are the lungs of the earth. The air we breathe, the stability of our climate and the rich variety of life depends on forests. They’re home to around two-thirds of all plant and animal species found on land and millions of people depend on them for survival.

We need healthy, thriving forests, for our planet Earth to sustain life. As much as 80% of the world’s forests have been destroyed or irreparably degraded. Our ancient forests are looted every day to supply cheap timber and wood products to the world. In Australia, we are part of the problem. The production of woodchips for pulp and paper is the largest driver of forest destruction in Australia.

You can help make a positive difference, with your awareness and the choices you make.

By knowing and understanding more about the products you purchase and use and where they come from.
